Ho’oponopono Hawaiian Prayer of Forgiveness

Pronounced: Ho – oh – Po-no – Po-no

Ho’oponopono is the shortest Hawaiian prayer/mantra and one of forgiveness and healing. The premise is that you use the healing “ho’oponopono,” which translates to “I Love You, I’m Sorry, Please Forgive Me, Thank You” as a method to solve disputes amongst family members, friends or romantic partners. The order spoken is not important, but the words are. These simple phrases have the power of repentance, forgiveness, transmutation, and gratitude, to erase and transmute any limiting memories or beliefs.

You can use the four ho’oponopono steps to solve any problem, and it’s not necessary to know the cause of the problem or to know what the exact problem is. You can say these four sentences as much as you like. You can just say the phrases, but if you really FEEL them, you will get results a lot faster. By practicing the Ho’oponopono Mantra we are cleaning the programs in ourselves that are preventing us from being at the pure state of love, the zero state, where there are no limits.

I Love You

Saying “I love you” to the Divine cleans everything in you, it transmutes the stuck energies so they can flow again, allowing you to experience the miracle of this moment. And you are reconnected again with the Divine. When you express love you get back to the zero state, the state without limits which is pure love.

“I love you” is the code that unlocks the healing. The healing of yourself. The idea is to love everything. Love the extra weight, love the addiction, love the problem child, love the problem neighbour or spouse. Love it all.

I Am Sorry, Please Forgive Me

We say this mantra to acknowledge that we have caught something into our system. Most of the time we have no clue what this program is or where it came from, and that’s perfectly fine, there’s absolutely no need to know this. It can be any belief or thought or memory, from yourself or inherited from your ancestors. And this program is causing a certain situation or a feeling of anger, fear, frustration, impatience.

For example, the specific program that you caught can make you overweight or can cause an addiction. When you say “I’m sorry, please forgive me”, you’re making it clear to the Divine that you’re looking for forgiveness for whatever caused this program to show up in your life. But you’re petitioning Divinity for help to forgive yourself, you don’t need to ask Divinity to forgive you.

Thank You

By saying “Thank you”, we express gratitude. We show our faith that the problem will be cleared for the highest good of everyone involved.

You can just say “thank you” or you can use statements like this: “Thank you for erasing this belief from me, thank you for deleting these data, these negativities, these programs, this negative perception out of my body and mind.”

The power of focused words

Dr Ihaleakala Hew Len, an expert in Ho’oponopono healed criminally insane, violent patients by working on himself. He never saw a patient, he viewed their files and practiced Ho’oponopono and miraculously healing began. Patients were unshackled, medications reduced and eventually patients released. After 3 years the place was closed because all the patients were healed. Dr Hew Len explained, “I was simply cleaning the part of me that I shared with them.” – his amazing story is here!

If you wanted to put the Ho’oponopono prayer into your Healy the same way you would an affirmation, the instructions are here.
